Turning 65 years old soon? Audubon County Memorial Hospital will be hosting a free seminar “Welcome to Medicare” on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Community Health Center in the Audubon Hospital on the first floor.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital is proud to join communities across America in celebration of National Rural Health Day (NRHD) on November 20, 2025. The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and rural-focused organizations throughout the United States set aside the third Thursday of November to recognize NRHD. This annual event is an opportunity to celebrate the “Power of Rural” and honor the individuals and organizations dedicated to addressing the unique healthcare needs of nearly 61 million people living in rural America.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics was recognized by the State of Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Services for fulfilling Critical Access Hospital Quality Infrastructure Elements and Criteria for 2024.

The Audubon County Hospital Foundation is excited to spread the holiday spirit by launching its Annual Giving Campaign with a Holiday Wreath fundraiser. Pre-decorated wreaths, provided by The Market Greenhouse in Exira, will be available for pre-order until November 14th. A portion of the proceeds will go toward this year’s annual giving campaign initiative.

Throughout October, ACMH has been actively sharing the importance of regular mammography screenings within the Audubon community at local events and on social media.

“Foot health is often overlooked, but for individuals living with diabetes, it can mean the difference between prevention and serious complications,” said Sarah Asmus, Director of Specialty Clinic and Surgery at Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics (ACMH).    

The Audubon County Hospital Foundation and the staff of Audubon County Memorial Hospital express their gratitude to the Omaha Community Foundation for awarding a grant in the amount of $14,760.43 to replace the Blanket/IV Fluid Warming Cabinet in the Emergency and Med-Surg Departments.

Gentiva Hospice stopped into Exira Medical Clinic to say a special thank you to ACMH’s Christy Konkler, CMA “for being kind and helping them get all the information they needed setting up a patient of ours with hospice,” said Valerie Riesberg, ARNP of the Exira Clinic. Val continued, “They were just appreciative of the efforts given!”

Don’t settle.” Dr. Jeffrey Maire, General Surgeon at Audubon County Memorial Hospital began his presentation with this quote from Steve Jobs. In front of an auditorium of students from 8-12^th grade, Dr. Maire talked about career paths and the unexpected twists and turns your life may take.

ACMH was gifted with a few beautiful homemade wreaths made by Barb Hansen of Audubon. Wreath making is a hobby that Barb picked up one bright spring.

ACMH is proud to announce that Angie Winther, Billing and Insurance Specialist at Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics was honored with the 2025 fourth quarter ACMH Employee Recognition Award.

ACMH staff and providers enjoyed participating in the 2025 Career Day offered by Audubon County Economic Development. Career Day offered local students from around the area an opportunity to meet with staff members of a large variety of organizations from agriculture to healthcare.

On a sunny Saturday, standing on a bench overlooking Manning City Park, a beautiful testimonial was given. Full of heartbreak and hope, this story captured the heart of the day, loving those we have lost to suicide and honoring their memory by bringing awareness out in the open.

This summer Audubon County Memorial Hospital  and Clinics (ACMH) began a new summer internship program.  This program is designed to give college students in the area an opportunity to learn various aspects of working in a rural critical access hospital. The goal of the program was to combine the interests of the students with job positions within ACMH. Depending on the students selected, their skillset, and the needs of the organization, internship assignments are created.

The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) is a free, objective, and confidential service offered through the state of Iowa to help people understand Medicare and determine eligibility for financial assistance or benefits.

A Wish List for Teachers is a program that first began in 2024 by ACMH employee Sarah Asmus, LPN, Director of Clinical Informatics/OPC/Surgery.
