The Back-to-School Wish List for Teachers program, which began in 2024 through the efforts of ACMH employee Sarah Asmus, LPN, Director of Clinical Informatics/OPC/Surgery, is once again helping local teachers prepare their classrooms for the new school year.

The United States has an increasing aging population with the number of Americans aged 65+ projected to reach 82 million by 2050 – a 47% increase since 2022.¹ Because of this, the ACMH Wound Care Clinic is taking the time to educate older adults on the importance of wound care for the ages.

Growing up, Bristol Finley spent a lot of time at Audubon County Memorial Hospital.  Whether it was visiting family or watching her mom get her blood drawn, the hospital was always a familiar place. Now, she’s come full circle, working as an intern lab technician while earning her Biology/Medical Laboratory Science degree at Upper Iowa University.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics announces the opening of the new ACMH Behavioral Health Clinic (ABHC). Callen Weispfennig, CEO of ACMH remarked, “We are excited to welcome Shelli Brown, PMHNP, to ACMH. Her addition allows us to expand our services to include behavioral health, an area of significant need in our communities. Across the country, behavioral health services remain one of the most pressing unmet needs, and rural Iowa is no exception.”

Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics (ACMH) employees were excited to have the opportunity to host an activity for the Exira-EHK STEAM Night this year.

ACMH honored those employees who celebrated milestone anniversaries. The Annual Awards ceremony was held in the Gathering Place at the hospital. Recognitions were presented by Callen Weispfennig, CEO whose remarks captured the sincere appreciation of the many years of dedication and service these individuals provided is a testament to the lasting impact of their commitment, integrity, and contributions to the organization and community.

Annie Inman, Business Communications teacher at Audubon High School invited Melanie Larsen, COO and Haillie Bruch, HR Director at Audubon County Memorial Hospital to discuss the practical application of soft skills in the workplace.

Sue Wede, is the medical secretary in the Rehab Services Department at Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics (ACMH) was honored with the 2026 ROSE Award. Sue Wede has worked at ACMH for over 15 years.

Last week, Dr. Jeffrey Maire, Geneal Surgeon at Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics met with a classroom of Exira-EHK High School students interested in learning more about healthcare careers.
