ACMH Engages with Students at ACED Career Day 2026

ACMH staff and providers enjoyed participating in the 2026 Career Day offered by Audubon County Economic Development. Career Day offered local students from around the area an opportunity to meet with staff members of a large variety of organizations from agriculture to healthcare.

ACMH was pleased to have the opportunity to talk to students about the healthcare industry. Students learned about all aspects of running healthcare including finance, information technology, security, nutrition, plant operations and everything in between. ACMH providers and staff took time out of their busy schedules to attend this event.

The ACMH Rural Healthcare Clinics staff were well represented at the event. Dr. Stephanie Vampola, Family Medicine Physician and Tina Olsen, RN spoke with students interested in nursing and family healthcare. Dr. Vampola answered questions about the importance of hydration and healthy eating and  provided handouts that included her personal recipes for protein snacks and smoothies and a list of healthy after-school snacks.

Students interested in Rehabilitation Services careers were able to meet with Courtney Schlichte, DPT and Emma Neumann, PTA and discussed the workings of a typical day as a physical therapist and give insight on the differences between Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.

Holly Christensen, ARNP, and Jennifer Schneider, RN of the ACMH Med-Surg/Emergency Department gave students the opportunity to practice hands-on skills using medical manikins equipped for procedures such as drawing blood, intubation and infant CPR.

Other hospital employees talked about non-clinical careers within the healthcare industry, including  Haillie Bruch, Human Resource Director, Susan Greving, Marketing/Communications Director, Bliss Weitl, ACH Foundation Director and Joe Otten, Plant Operations Director.

Students left with brochures that reviewed educational requirements for clinical careers and non-clinical careers within the healthcare industry. Students were surprised that there are many careers that only require a high school diploma, an additional certificate, or minimal secondary education.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics offers flexible job shadow opportunities for individual students, please contact Human Resources Director, Haillie Bruch, at 712-563-5258.

Do you have steady hands? ACMH’s Jennifer Schneider, RN with local students at ACED Career Day, giving them opportunity to practice hands-on skills using medical manikins equipped for procedures such as drawing blood, intubation and infant CPR.

ACMH’s Joe Otten, Plant Operations Director, challenged students to test their steady hands with ACMH’s own version of the classic Operation game!

Staff at ACMH always enjoy talking with our local students about careers in healthcare!

It’s a great opportunity to connect with the next generation, share what we love about what we do, and give students a glimpse into the many rewarding careers available in healthcare.
