General Description:
Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to join our provider group in Audubon, Iowa. The emergency department is staffed full-time with nurse practitioners and 24/7 physician back-up via telemedicine. This opportunity occasionally requires assisting in the hospital with telemedicine physician backup and in the rural health clinics as needed.
Experience/Education Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited ARNP program.
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Unrestricted license in the state of Iowa as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Active ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS required within 90 days of hire.
  • Credentialed as a provider with DEA number and prescriptive authority.
  • Prefer a minimum of two years’ experience in hospital and/or emergency medicine.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team.
  • Able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change.
  • Working knowledge of computers and Electronic Health Records (EPIC).

RN, Med-Surg/Emergency Department

Department: Med-Surg/Emergency Department
Hours:   Full-Time, 36 hours per week (variable shifts)
General Description:
Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care for a specific group of patients. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical and emergency care setting.  Communicates with physicians and co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.  Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Coordinates care in collaboration with the patient, family, nurses, peers, physicians, and allied health care providers.  Assumes responsibility for the outcome of nursing care delivered. Additionally, performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited program of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa is mandatory. Prior emergency department or ICU experience, preferred. Must be familiar with electronic health records and have basic computer skills. Must maintain all certifications as required by job function or by law. Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer service orientation.

ACMH Begins National Search for CEO

Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics (ACMH), announced that a national search is underway for an experienced leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer. This position will become open due to the planned retirement of Suzanne Cooner, the current CEO, in July 2025. Cooner has served as CEO of ACMH since January 2017.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics (ACMH), located in Audubon, Iowa, seeks a mission-oriented, experienced leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer.  This position will become open due to the planned retirement of the current CEO in July 2025 who has served as CEO of ACMH since January 2017.

This is an exciting opportunity for a relationship-driven leader, motivated to lead a financially strong, independent, seventeen (17) bed critical access hospital who has been serving the residents of Audubon County, Iowa for more than 70 years.

We are seeking an executive who is a strategic, visible, and inspirational leader who can capitalize on past successes and continue to pursue strategic growth opportunities while further strengthening existing services. The next CEO will be accountable for focusing and engaging medical staff and employees around a well-articulated vision for the future of Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics as an independent hospital. They will have an excellent track record of building strong community relationships, combined with a performance-driven approach to operational and financial stewardship.  The preferred candidate will possess a master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, nursing, or related field.  Prior experience as a CEO in a critical access hospital is preferred.

Reporting to an elected seven (7) member ACMH Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is fully responsible for the overall planning and directing of the activities in support of the mission, long-range plan and strategic vision of ACMH, as well as the health needs of its patients and the communities it serves.

RN-Resource/Triage Nurse

General Description:
Works collaboratively with providers, staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care management and care coordination across the health care continuum in order to improve outcomes and lower the cost of care. Assists provider and clinical staff with clerical/clinical functions for patients requiring chronic disease coordination. Acts as an integral member of the healthcare team who works to ensure safety, best practice, and high-quality standards of care are maintained. Works to ensure members are able to navigate through the healthcare continuum by improving the coordination of care and member/family experience. Coordinates a wide range of self-management support services as well as a wide range of community-based and health care support services for members. Works with providers, staff, and other resources to address specific quality improvement initiatives. Performs all functions of clinic nurse on a regular basis.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited program of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa is required. Prior experience in nursing, physician clinic settings, care coordination, or similar preferred. Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and frequent interruptions. Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work and special projects. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Must exhibit a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
