Position:  Cook
Department:  Nutrition Services
Hours:   Full-Time 
General Description:
This position has several primary functions including, but not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and cook food by following standard recipes and menu instructions.
  • Follow patients’ prescribed diets and special meal instructions.
  • Prepare special diets, such as low-sodium, diabetic, low-fat, or modified-texture meals, as required.
  • Be aware of food allergies and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
  • Keep kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and tools clean and sanitized.
  • Serve meals to patients on the tray line.
  • Make sure meals are prepared and served according to the correct diet and patient instructions.
  • Load and transport food carts to designated patient areas.
  • Bake items when needed.
  • Assist with dishwashing and other kitchen duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Experience/Education Requirements:

A high school diploma or GED is required. The ability to read, write and speak English is mandatory. Previous dietary/food service experience preferred. Understanding relationship of sanitation and infection control preferred. Must have ability to calculate measurements in recipes to increase or decrease servings.
