Collects specimens and performs testing ensuring that testing is conducted in an accurate, efficient and timely manner that facilitates positive patient care in accordance with established policies, protocols and practice guidelines. Utilize a variety of procedures that may involve numerous detailed tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment. Carries out a variety of complex procedures involving considerable independent judgment. The incumbent must be able to perform procedures of moderate and high complexity. Works with all levels within the organization and maintains positive relationships, cooperation, communication and coordination of all activities. | |||||||||
Experience/Education Requirements: | |||||||||
Requirements include graduation from an accredited program for medical laboratory professionals and ASCP certification required. Would consider someone with a four-year degree in a science related field of study and experience in a hospital laboratory setting. Experience in hospital laboratory preferred. Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and frequent interruptions. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Must exhibit a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.
