Ward Clerk – Med-Surg/ED (Full-Time)

Position: Ward Clerk
Department: Med-Surg/ED
Hours: Full-Time (36 hours per week — nights and days — rotating weekends)
General Description:
Performs a wide variety of duties relative to patient admitting, clerical support, supplies/inventory, etc. Ensures that the nursing station is manned always. Coordinates communication within the nursing department and all other departments in the hospital. Acts as a patient, patient family member/friend and visitor greeter. As such, cooperates, communicates and coordinates activities at all levels within the organization.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Minimum of a high school diploma, or equivalent, required. Previous customer services experience required. Prefer minimum of one year of work experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Word processing and computer experience desirable. Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communication is required. Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and frequent interruptions. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Clinical Informatics Coordinator (Full-Time)

Position: Clinical Informatics Coordinator
Department: Clinical Informatics

General Description:
Responsible for the coordination of clinical informatics functions and facilitate the use of the electronic health record (E.H.R.) and other clinical information systems to deliver healthcare services. Key responsibilities include direct involvement with the development, implementation, training, and support of the E.H.R. Facilitates staff teams in the use of the E.H.R. in collaboration with IT, nursing, financial, and clinical departments, including training needs. Serves as the clinical liaison between IT and end-users for use of E.H.R.. Assists with the coordination of clinical data through the utilization of the Electronic Health Record. Will assist with quality data reporting including building reports and abstracting data.

Key Duties:

  1. Works with E.H.R. Steering Committee and other committees and taskforces for input and feedback on effective and compliant use of the E.H.R. and other clinical information systems.
  2. Serve as the patient portal administrator and will be responsible for ensuring effective use of the patient portal, including creating and implementing workflows for staff, providing patient and staff education, assist with marketing and promoting use of patient portal, troubleshooting, data collection, and other activities related to the implementation and maintenance of the patient portal.
  3. Develops, directs, and implements training and education programs for E.H.R. and other clinical information systems to ensure that all employees are training on the appropriate use.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited program of nursing or other clinical service. Must maintain professional licensure. Prior experience in the healthcare field in a clinical role, preferably within a hospital-based system. Prior experience working on performance improvement, quality, or infection prevention teams, preferred. Highly developed problem-solving skills. Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions. Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work and special projects. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.

Medical Laboratory Technician (Full-Time) – Hiring Bonus Available

General Description:
Perform all levels of testing complexity and analysis on biological specimens to provide information used in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. Utilize a variety of procedures that may involve numerous detailed tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment. Carries out a variety of complex procedures involving considerable independent judgment. The incumbent must be able to perform procedures of moderate and high complexity in Hematology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Immunology and Microbiology. Works with all levels within the organization and maintains positive relationships, cooperation, communication and coordination of all activities.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Requirements include graduation from an accredited program for medical laboratory professionals and ASCP certification required. Would consider someone with a four-year degree in a science related field of study and experience in a hospital setting as a lab technician. Experience in hospital laboratory preferred. Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and frequent interruptions. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Must exhibit a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters.

Responsible for supervising all of the Laboratory department operational procedures and staff. In charge of equipment maintenance, inventory, reorganizing, and continually updating the department’s policies and procedures and educating staff. Assists with overseeing the budget, department operations, staffing, and resource needs. Makes sure the department is in compliance with both regulatory and accrediting organizations. Serves as a working supervisor and performs the functions of all positions and areas within the department frequently and as needed.

The organization is affiliated with Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA, which is a member of the Nebraska Methodist Health System.

This opportunity provides for traditional and outpatient Family Medicine with no OB required.  Audubon, Iowa is just an hour away from big city amenities to the east and west.  The practice has 2 family physicians and 2 Nurse Practitioners with one rural health clinic located on campus and one located in Exira, Iowa which is 10 miles south of the main campus.  Our emergency department is staffed with three full time nurse practitioners and the use of emergency telemedicine with eAvera.
