Revenue Cycle Director (Full-Time)

Position: Revenue Cycle Director
Department: Business Office
Hours: Full-Time
General Description:
Provides leadership and guidance regarding revenue cycle management including admissions, billing, and collections. Responsible for the management of the business office department including patient access/registration and patient accounting/billing. Works with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Department Heads, and Clinicians to set and monitor achievement of revenue goals. Works with the Compliance Officer to ensure appropriate internal controls and auditing and monitoring for revenue cycle functions. Assists with overseeing the department budget and budget preparation. Assesses department operations, staffing, and resource needs. Makes sure the department is in compliance with both regulatory and accrediting organizations. Serves as a working manager and performs the functions of all positions and areas within the department frequently and as needed.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, highly preferred. Prior experience in healthcare revenue cycle functions and medical billing required. Must have Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience. Certification in HIM including RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CPC, highly preferred. At minimum, must be knowledgeable of diagnoses/procedures in accordance with ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM coding principles. Must have knowledge of CMS National or Local Coverage Determination, and billing regulations. Ability to adapt to flexible work schedule and frequent interruptions. Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work and special projects. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Must exhibit a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters. Must have demonstrated experience leading others and coaching employees. Provider relations experience preferred.

Performance Improvement Coordinator (Full-Time)

Position: Performance Improvement Coordinator
Department: Quality/Infection Prevention
Hours: Full-Time
General Description:
Responsible for the coordination of Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI), Infection Prevention, Employee Health, Emergency Preparedness, and Staff Education. Responsible for monitoring and collaboration on various quality data programs to ensure that all data is submitted to appropriate outside reporting agencies including CMS, QualityNet, HIIN, NHSN, HCAHPS, Meaningful Use, etc. Assists leaders, teams, and providers with various quality initiatives and projects. Take an active role in Performance Improvement with a focus on patient safety, outcomes and satisfaction. Provide support for quality initiatives house-wide. Evaluates quality of patient care and patient outcomes as they relate to healthcare associated infections; collects, prepares and analyzes healthcare associated infection data; presents infection data and makes recommendations for actions.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited program of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa is mandatory. Bachelor’s degree a healthcare-related field is preferred, but not required. Prior experience working on performance improvement, quality, and patient safety teams. Highly developed problem solving skills. Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work and special projects. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills. Must exhibit a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters. Medical Coder (Full-Time)

Position: Medical Coder
Department: Health Information Management

General Description:
Responsible for the abstraction and assignment of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS codes of primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures for hospital inpatient, outpatient, and physician office episodes. Abstraction coding is defined as identification of codes based solely of the source documentation for CPT-4 and ICD-9-CM and/or ICD-10-CM. Correlate information from appropriate supporting clinical documentation not limited to Pathology, Radiology and/or other Physician Consultations after review by the Attending Physician, wherever appropriate. Coder will work on detailed physician chart abstractions and may be a liaison to documentation improvement to optimize physician coding practices for compliance and revenue purposes for the providers. Coder will conduct coding and charging audits including prospective audit on tests and procedures that may have a National or Local Coverage Determination Policy from CMS before performed on a Medicare patient.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Certification in HIM including RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CPC. Minimum of 2 years of experience in physician office or hospital coding. 5 years of experience preferred. Knowledge of diagnoses/procedures in accordance with ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM coding principles for both acute and skilled nursing facilities. Ability to work with physicians and other coworkers in a collaborative manner.

General Description:
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical and emergency care setting. Communicates with physicians and co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.

Perform all levels of testing complexity and analysis on biological specimens to provide information used in the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of disease. Utilize a variety of procedures that may involve numerous detailed tests and techniques that require the use of professional judgment.
