Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics (ACMH) has seen growth and expansion this past year under the new leadership of CEO, Callen Weispfennig. In 2025, ACMH brought awards and recognitions, technological advancements as well as new and expanded service lines that have proven to be a major asset to the community.
ACMH is proud to have once again been named as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital in the nation by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. The Top 100 awards program celebrates outstanding performance annually among the nation’s rural hospitals.
ACMH received the PRC Quality Award for Patient Satisfaction by the State of Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Services.
ACMH also received an achievement Award: Mission Lifeline Stroke for its participation in the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Stroke post-acute care initiative to enhance guideline-based care for stroke patients, ultimately improving and prolonging lives.
Dr. Mandy Bartels, internal medicine physician joined the Rural Healthcare Clinic Team. The Outpatient Specialty Clinic added the following providers: Saima Zafar, MD, Cardiology Obesity Medicine, Caliste Hsu, MD, Hand and Microvascular Specialist, Rosa Nicosia, ARNP, Dermatology, Jason Talmadge, MD, ENT.
Additionally, ACMH’s partnership with Myrtue’s Birthing Center and Dr. Kelly Andersen has expanded to include office hours in the Specialty Clinic offering OB and GYN services to the women of Audubon County.
The Radiology Department began a partnership with Andrew Rebik of Heartland Ultrasound, has increased the availability of MRI’s and continues to promote mammography screenings.
ACMH employees continue to find opportunities to participate in community events and activities. Speaking engagements this year included the introduction of Callen Weispfennig, CEO at the Bakery on Broadway, Dr. Stephanie Vampola reading to kindergarten students from both districts during Literacy Month, Dr. Jeffrey Maire presenting career opportunities at Audubon and Exira-EHK High Schools, and the addition of the Student Internship Program.
