Audubon County Memorial Hospital Celebrates National Health Week

This year, Audubon County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with rapid response protocols, dissemination of facts, and the distribution of vaccines. ACMH continues to provide services that meet the growing needs of Audubon County. Women’s Health Services and the Weight Loss Clinic are just a couple of the services now available to the community.

Now more than ever, it is important for patients to see their providers for routine physicals and wellness visits. It is safe to come to Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics for care. Our providers offer services from newborns to senior adults by providing well-child check-ups, annual wellness visits, age-appropriate preventative care, sports, and school physicals, OMTs (back and neck adjustments), DOT physicals, immunizations, and treatment of occasional and ongoing illnesses.

Routine check-ups are an important part of managing your healthcare. During a routine physical, your provider can catch potential health concerns and ensure the right preventative screenings are being done. If you haven’t had a routine physical in a while, please contact your provider to see if it is time to set up an appointment.

Another essential component to maintaining your health is an annual wellness visit. Each year, Medicare covers one Annual Wellness Visit (AWV).  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) within the U.S. Department of Health, state that an “Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) is to develop or update a personalized prevention plan and perform a Health Risk Assessment (HRA). This is covered once every 12 months and the patient pays nothing.”

ACMH and Clinics encourages those that have Medicare, to make an appointment with your primary care provider. This visit is not the same a routine physical. An annual wellness visit enables your provider to complete a thorough review of your medication, screenings, preventative services, and any other specialists that you see.

While routine physicals and wellness visits are important tools that support your healthcare, ACMH providers understand that women experience unique health care challenges. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the leading causes of death in women are heart disease, cancer, and stroke. ACMH offers a full range of Women’s Health Services including well women exams, gynecology, family planning/contraception, mammograms/breast care, heart health, colon health, pre- and post-menopausal care, and bone density screenings. Our female providers are here to assist you through all stages of your life.
