Bridget Obermeier, Laboratory Assistant Honored with the ACMH Employee Recognition Award

Bridget Obermeier, Laboratory Assistant at Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics was honored with the 2025 second quarter ACMH Employee Recognition Award.

In 2024, ACMH developed a new award to honor employees who go above and beyond the scope of their duties. Suzanne Cooner, CEO of ACMH said, “We have so many employees that go above and beyond in caring for our patients and their fellow co-workers. This is an opportunity for staff members to nominate any staff member employed by ACMH.”

In order to be considered for this award, the nomination letter must showcase how the employee meets the values of the organization: Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Respect, Service Excellence, Stewardship. To determine the award honoree, these nominations are reviewed on a quarterly basis, reviewed by department heads, and voted on using a closed ballot.

Bridget Obermeier has worked in the ACMH laboratory for 30 years. Her commitment to excellence is evident as she genuinely cares about all ACMH patients and staff and greets everyone with her welcoming smile.

Bridget is the fifth recipient of the ACMH Employee Recognition Award and was nominated by Bliss Weitl, Foundation Director and Medical Secretary and Valerie Riesberg, ARNP.

Bliss Weitl wrote the following about Bridget in her nomination form: “Bridget has always and will always exemplify quality and compassion. She is caring not only to her patients but to the employees that she works with. She is genuine and sincere, and her optimism is evident in the tasks she performs. When something is wrong with a patient, you can tell she feels that pain in her heart, too. Not only do I absolutely adore her as someone I work with, but my whole family requests her when getting labs drawn. Even before I worked here, I was always calm and at ease and genuinely felt cared about when I knew it was Bridget taking care of me. A few months ago, my son had to get labs drawn. She made him feel reassured. She was gentle and loving and talked him through everything. He made it through the difficult situation, but I believe Bridget had a lot to do with that. When we left, he said “She’s good. I like her.” For my son to say that means the world. It not only made that situation easier for him, but it also made it outstandingly easier for his dad and me. She isn’t there to just do her job, she’s there to make patients feel cared about. She makes conversation and asks questions and actually cares about the answer. She actually listens and not just hears. She is simply amazing. Thank you for being the sun on a lot of people’s cloudy day.”

Valerie Riesberg, ARNP, wrote the following about Bridget in her nomination form: “Bridget is always agreeable to help as much as she is able. She answers with a smile, and she gets back to you if she doesn’t have an answer right away. You can rely on her to accomplish something if you have asked her.

Bridget not only tries to get a job done every time she is tasked with it, but she also will let you know if for any reason she is unable to accomplish the task. I have found she is responsible and ensures that we have what we need to complete our jobs. I have never seen Bridget handle a matter in anything less than a professional manner. She is courteous, even if she must correct a situation. I know that she will reach out to us if she has a concern over a lab that is being covered.”

Congratulations to Bridget on being the fifth recipient of the Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics Employee Recognition Award.

ACMH looks forward to sharing these special award honorees with the community.
