Christine Konkler, CMA at Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics was honored with this quarter’s ACMH Employee Recognition Award.
This year, ACMH developed a new award to honor employees who go above and beyond the scope of their duties. Suzanne Cooner, CEO of ACMH said, “We have so many employees that go above and beyond in caring for our patients and their fellow co-workers. This is an opportunity for staff members to nominate any staff member employed by ACMH.”
In order to be considered for this award, the nomination letter must showcase how the employee meets the values of the organization: Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Respect, Service Excellence, Stewardship. To determine the award honoree, these nominations are reviewed on a quarterly basis, reviewed by department heads, and voted on using a closed ballot.
Christine Konkler is the second recipient of the ACMH Employee Recognition Award and was nominated by both her supervisor, Heather Toft, BSN, RN, CRHC, Physician’s Clinics Director of both Audubon Family Health Care and Exira Medical Clinic and by Exira Medical Clinic’s Val Riesberg, ARNP.
Heather Toft wrote the following in her nomination letter regarding Konkler: “Christy is a very flexible team member and is always offering assistance to the rest of the clinic staff. She takes responsibility for not only the patients and families of EMC, but the building needs and regulatory updates as well. Chirsty is the first to offer new idea for the clinic flow and changes for better success for our patients.
Christy is always honest and trustworthy, which has been mentioned several times in patient satisfaction surveys. Christy’s kind, courteous personality is a delight to work with on both sides of the clinic. Patients from Audubon have been known to drive to Exira solely for Christy to be the person the draw their blood, check their blood pressure, and discuss medication issues with them. She is so very thoughtful and goes above and beyond to ensure her patients receive thorough care and follow up.
All RHC’s providers enjoy working with Christy and comment on how attentive and thorough she is. As the excellent CMA that she is, her skills are often complemented by patients and their families and as well as nursing home and home care staff that she speaks with on a weekly basis. I believe Christy exemplifies all 6 of ACMH values and is very deserving of this quarter’s employee recognition.”
Val Riesberg shared similar sentiments in her nomination of Konkler. Riesberg stated, “Christy is continually going above and beyond to ensure that the clinics and patients are taken care of. Christy has thorough charts put together on her patients; she takes pride in having her jobs completed. She has done all the training to ensure she is up to date and extremely knowledgeable on vaccine standards for children. She has taken the extra steps to Public Health whenever a question may arise.
The Exira community trusts and respects Christy. She has been here for around 30 years and knows these people. They express how much they value her. She is polite, respectful, trustworthy, and caring towards all the patients. Whether she is answering the phone, rooming a patient, drawing their blood, and working with other staff members. She makes it her goal to treat others how she would like to be treated.
Christy is consistently busy rooming patients, drawing blood, inputting orders, taking phone calls, assisting to make appointments for patients, working through prior authorizations, referring patients to specialists, keeping records, updating patient charts, checking outdates of products in the clinic, ordering supplies, and also helping other staff when needed, and filling in gaps with continuing education.
Simply, I could not see the number of patients that I do, if she was not putting in as much effort. It is because of her work on the front end that I can do my job successfully with correct data points already in place.”
Congratulations to Christine for the commitment to the care you provide to the patients at Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Clinics. ACMH looks forward to sharing these special award honorees with the community.
