Don’t settle.” Dr. Jeffrey Maire, General Surgeon at Audubon County Memorial Hospital began his presentation with this quote from Steve Jobs. In front of an auditorium of students from 8-12th grade, Dr. Maire talked about career paths and the unexpected twists and turns your life may take.
Dr. Maire met with Audubon students last Friday, October 17, 2025.
As part of the ACMH Speaker 
Series, Dr. Maire developed a presentation to talk to students about various careers in healthcare. This assembly was a follow-up to Career Day that was hosted earlier this year by ACED. Dr. Maire spent a good amount of time discussing the path to becoming a physician. He also discussed the various roles within a hospital and the educational opportunities available to students as they prepare to venture into high school and higher education.
