General Description:
This position has several primary functions including, but not limited to the following:

  • Prepare and cook food by following standard recipes and menu instructions.
  • Follow patients’ prescribed diets and special meal instructions.
  • Prepare special diets, such as low-sodium, diabetic, low-fat, or modified-texture meals, as required.
  • Be aware of food allergies and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
  • Keep kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and tools clean and sanitized.
  • Serve meals to patients on the tray line.
  • Make sure meals are prepared and served according to the correct diet and patient instructions.
  • Load and transport food carts to designated patient areas.
  • Bake items when needed.
  • Assist with dishwashing and other kitchen duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Experience/Education Requirements:

A high school diploma or GED is required. The ability to read, write and speak English is mandatory. Previous dietary/food service experience preferred. Understanding relationship of sanitation and infection control preferred. Must have ability to calculate measurements in recipes to increase or decrease servings.

Audubon County Memorial Hospital & Clinics is a 17 bed, Critical Access Hospital serving Audubon County and the surrounding areas, with the mission of “Excellence With Quality and Compassion to Those We Serve.”

Our services include emergency services, acute care, skilled nursing services, laboratory, radiology, heart and vascular services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and surgical services. ACMH is proud of having received this honor eight times in the past decade. In 2017, Audubon County Memorial Hospital & Clinics was also named a “Top 20 Critical Access Hospital” in the nation by the National Rural Healthcare Association (NRHA).
