Audubon County Memorial Hospital and Audubon County Public Health encourage residents to remain safe this holiday season.

The 2021 holiday season is shaping up to be less certain and a lot more stressful than we had originally hoped it would be. Although the Omicron variant has not been identified in Audubon County, it is in Iowa. The uncertainty of the quick-surging Omicron variant once again reminds us that the pandemic is still very much with us.
Our holiday wish for you is that you can enjoy this time with family and friends as safely as possible. It is very important for people to follow the recommended COVID-19 safety measures to avoid seeing an increase in community spread or hospitalizations after the holidays as we saw after the Thanksgiving holiday. We encourage people not to let their guard down, especially during flu season.
Between COVID-19, the more transmissible Omicron variant, the predominant Delta variant, and influenza, it’s going to be even more important for people to follow safety protocols; social distancing, washing their hands, wearing your mask when you are out in public, and getting tested before you attend a large gathering. This is especially important if you are going to be around anybody who is at high risk or unvaccinated. We would highly recommend getting COVID tested beforehand.
