Audubon County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) and Shelby County Ambulance Service (SCAS) are pleased to announce a formal partnership that began August 1, 2026, focused on strengthening emergency patient transport and improving access to timely, coordinated care.
For rural communities, every minute matters. When patients require care, timely transportation and strong communication between hospitals and EMS teams can make an important difference.
ACMH’s critical access hospital services, together with the experience and advanced training of Shelby County EMS, will help provide patients with timely and coordinated care when they need to be transferred for services not available at most rural healthcare centers. Shelby County Ambulance Service brings a highly experienced team of Critical Care Paramedics and EMTs, strengthening the care available to patients and families throughout our rural communities.
“The agreement with Shelby County Ambulance Service pertains to patient transport services and does not change our commitment to our local 911 response partnerships. We have worked exceptionally well alongside Audubon Fire & Rescue and Exira Fire & Rescue for many years; both organizations do a phenomenal job serving our communities.
