Today is Employee Appreciation Day! We want to take this time to thank all of the dedicated employees at Audubon County Memorial Hospital & Clinics! Their talents, efforts, and dedication ensure that we continue to achieve “excellence with quality and compassion to those we serve” each and every day! March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. During Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the CDC and other federal agencies promote colorectal cancer screenings, which can be lifesaving. Regular screening, beginning at age 50, is the key to preventing colorectal cancer. If you’re 50 to 75 years old, get screened for colorectal cancer regularly. If you’re younger than 50 and think you may be at high risk of getting colorectal cancer, or if you’re older than 75, ask your primary care provider if you should be screened.

ACMH Staff Celebrate “Hoodie-Hoo Day”

On February 20, staff at Audubon County Memorial Hospital & Clinics celebrated “Hoodie Hoo Day,” which is a special day which falls on February 20 every year and is celebrated by going out at noon, waiving your hands over your head and shouting “Hoodie-Hoo” to scare away Winter and make way for Spring! The purpose of the day is to help people overcome the winter-time blues and prepare them for spring! ACMH staff also planted flower seeds in preparation for the warm weather to come.

Health Screenings Clinic

Check out the details below for our annual Health Screening Clinic in February! Knowing your current blood pressure, cholesterol levels and other key blood tests can empower us to make informed decisions about our lifestyle. Blood testing at ACMH Health Screenings range from basic cholesterol and blood sugar testing to a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP). The CMP test helps to evaluate kidney and liver function, sugar and protein levels in the blood, and the body’s electrolyte and fluid balance. Additionally, a Complete Blood Count test that is used to evaluate overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia, infection and leukemia, will be offered.

Let Our Family Take Care of Your Family!

Good health starts with great primary care. Let our family take care of your family! Your family practice provider should be your primary resource for prevention and wellness measures as well as a health educator for the entire family. Our clinics offer complete care from newborns to senior adults by providing well child check-ups, age-appropriate preventative care, sports and school physicals, immunizations, and treatment of occasional and ongoing illnesses. To make an appointment, call 712-563-4611 in Audubon or 712-268-5348 in Exira.

Celebrate National Rural Health Day

Our rural community is a wonderful place to live and work.  It’s a small, farming area where neighbors know each other, listen to each other, respect each other, and work together to benefit the greater good. It’s also a great place to start a business and test your “entrepreneurial spirit”, as the recent increase in storefronts have shown us. This community provides the rest of the country with a wealth of services and commodities, and they are the economic engine that has helped the United States become the world economic power it is today.
