Provides quality nursing care to patients; implements specific procedures and programs; coordinates work within the department, as well as with other departments; reports pertinent information to supervising RN; responds to inquiries or requests for information; and assists the immediate supervisor with tasks to support department operations. Performs a wide variety of duties relative to patient admitting, clerical support, supplies/inventory, etc. Acts as a patient, patient family member/friend and visitor greeter. As such, cooperates, communicates and coordinates activities at all levels within the organization. Will also be expected to function as the Ward Clerk as necessary. Experience/Education Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of C.N.A. courses with current C.N.A. certification in the state of Iowa. Current BLS certification. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Basic computer knowledge. Experience as a C.N.A. desired.

Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care for a specific group of patients. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical and emergency care setting. Communicates with physicians and co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patients’ clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Coordinates care in collaboration with the patient, family, nurses, peers, physicians, and allied health care providers. Assumes responsibility for the outcome of nursing care delivered. Additionally, performs general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Experience/Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited program of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa is mandatory. Prior emergency department or ICU experience, preferred. Must be familiar with electronic health records and have basic computer skills. Must maintain all certifications as required by job function or by law. Must possess and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer service orientation.

Credentialed as a provider with active and unrestricted DEA and CSA license and prescriptive authority. Able to communicate effectively with all members of the health care team. Able to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change. Must have a working knowledge of computers and Electronic Health Records.
